My son Scott told me one day that Queen Elizabeth II was a direct descendent of William I. I didn't believe it since that would make Elizabeth the 27th great grand daughter of William I (more or less, depending on how you follow the lines - there is more than one way). That seemed very improbable.
However, once I convinced myself that Scott was correct, I got it into my head to use my genealogy software to document and chart this relationship. The result is what you have before you. There is nothing new here - what is more over worked than the genealogy of the English monarchs. What may be of interest to you is the charts. If you have ever been confused by the War of the Roses, or the six wives of Henry VIII, or total confusion of the Stuart dyansty, then these charts may help you make sense of it all. If you are a buff of English history, then this site may be of interest. Have fun!
